My primary medium is oil. I am a realist painter, focusing on figurative and botanical subjects. I am fascinated by the play of light, shadow, color, and endeavor to recreate the emotions they evoke.

Inspiration
I am inspired by the work of Sargent, Manet, Georgia O’Keeffe, Frida Kahlo, Andrew Wyeth, Alphonse Mucha, Gustav Klimt, Egon Schiele, The Boston School of Painting, post-Impressionists, The Pre-Raphaelite Painters, and Contemporary Artists such as Jeremy Lipking, Cesar Santos, Julio Reyes, Steven Assael, Laura Knight, and Sharon Sprung. Last, but not least–My college art teacher, Mary Ann Currier of Louisville, Kentucky.
Why Madison?
I moved to Madison over 25 years ago, not for ART, but to work with my father and brother. About six years ago, I met Bob Saueressig, who offered me a solo show of my botanical paintings at the Artisan’s Gallery in downtown. Bob also introduced me to the Tuesday Night Drawing Club, held at Peter Ellis’s West Street Center for New Art. Through that group, the wonderful creative community of Madison opened up for me. Since that time, I have seen the Creative energy of Madison flourish. I am now President of the Madison Art Club and on the Board of Directors of the Madison Area Arts Alliance. Madison is a great place to be an artist because you have an opportunity to contribute to the growth of the ARTS and the people here are very supportive and friendly–Not to mention the beauty of the downtown historic District and the surrounding natural environment. There is inspiration everywhere!
